Upholding the Highest Standards in Cosmetic Medicine

The Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia (CPCA) supports doctors who are committed to doing things properly. In a fast-growing field, the College helps ensure cosmetic medicine is practiced safely, ethically, and with real expertise. CPCA-certified doctors follow a strict code of conduct, engage in continuous education, and place patient care at the heart of every decision.

What is the Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia?

The Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia (CPCA) is a registered charity and not-for-profit body that was formed in 2014 by a group of doctors with a special interest in non-invasive cosmetic medicine. The college evolved from the Cosmetic Physicians’ Society of Australasia (CPSA) which was established in 1997 and was the first organisation to represent the interests of doctors working in this emerging field of medicine in Australasia.

Collectively, the CPCA has been supporting its members for a combined term of 27 years.

The CPCA is recognised by Health Departments, Regulators and Medical Defence Insurers as a key stakeholder. It is one of more than 70 signatories to the Australian Ethical Healthcare Alliance group, made up of health fraternities recognised by APEC and WHO. The CPCA is devoted to protecting and supporting its members’ interests while ensuring patient safety through public education and awareness. It provides the public with up-to-date information while assisting them to locate our qualified doctors who share our common goals.

The purpose of the college is to provide representation and education in the area of cosmetic medicine for the members and fellows of the Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia. We also support public education and awareness of cosmetic medicine.

CPCA's mission

Our Mission is to establish and maintain a high standard of learning, skills, and conduct from doctors working in cosmetic medicine.

To fulfil this mission, the College will implement cosmetic medical educational programs and support research into cosmetic medical treatments that will, in turn, aid and support medical practitioners wishing to further their knowledge of cosmetic medicine. The College objectives will be furthered by our cooperation with other health professionals, like-minded associations, institutes, governments, corporations, and medical practitioners from other medical disciplines that also hold an interest in cosmetic medicine.

How can the CPCA help you?

Industry representation

Through college representation, you will have a voice to express how the cosmetic industry develops, be kept informed of and have access to a high standard of educational courses and have industry representation when it comes to government lobbying.

As a CPCA member, you will have access to and be encouraged to attend regular CPD and/or networking events where you will meet other physicians in the field of cosmetic medicine.

Via our private messaging forums, CPCA members can seek advice when needed, request mentorship or provide mentoring should their level of skills and experience permit, and discuss important issues relevant to cosmetic medicine.

All CPCA members receive access to free or discounted magazines, journals, conference registrations, and product exhibitions.

CPCA fellows and full members have enhanced advertising opportunities through the entitlement to promote college membership, the use of a dedicated CPCA logo and branding, and placement on the CPCA Find a Doctor webpage.

Fellows are entitled to use the post-nominal FCPCA.

All college members are encouraged to get involved and/or join CPCA committees. Full members and Fellows have full voting rights and can be elected to the CPCA governing Board. Fellows can run for president of the college.

In addition to our training programs, which include the nationally recognised Graduate Certificate in Cosmetic Medicine (52900WA), CPCA Members have access to an array of CPD/CME materials and opportunities, as well as resources designed to assist members in networking and finding mentoring.

Dr. David Kosenko

President

Dr. David Kosenko is the current President of the Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia (CPCA). A graduate of Monash University (1987), Dr. Kosenko is the founder and owner of Impress Cosmetic Medicine in Melbourne, where he has been performing office-based cosmetic procedures for over 17 years. He was also a co-owner of a prominent general practice for more than 30 years. His clinical interests include skin cancer medicine and dermatology.

Dr. Kosenko has recently accepted the position of Head of Medical and Clinical Training for Australia and New Zealand at Dermocosmètica, and he will commence this role in November 2024. He will continue to work at Impress Cosmetic Medicine in a clinical capacity.

Highly committed to medical education, Dr. Kosenko regularly teaches medical students, nurses, general practice registrars, and cosmetic physicians. He has presented at major conferences such as the Non-Surgical Symposium, Cosmedicon, and CosDoc, and actively participates in industry workshops. Additionally, he serves as an examiner for the CPCA and is a key opinion leader (KOL) for several pharmaceutical and medical device companies.

Under his leadership, the CPCA has launched the Graduate Certificate of Cosmetic Medicine (TAC: 52900WA), a postgraduate qualification designed to equip doctors with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice in this specialized field. The development of the Graduate Diploma of Cosmetic Medicine has begun, as well as several other educational short courses.

Dr. Kosenko is passionate about upholding the highest standards of practice, ethics, and safety in the healthcare sector.

Dr. Ricky Sia

Vice President

Dr. Ricky Sia has received extensive training in various fields of Medicine in the United Kingdom and Australia. He works primarily in advanced facial rejuvenation, especially with injectable treatments. Dr. Ricky values lifelong learning and regularly attends expert workshops to continue his professional development.

He enjoys teaching and sharing clinical pearls. He has recently joined the teaching taskforce of Merz Aesthetics to train cosmetic injectors in the ethical administration of cosmetic injectables and is also a trainer for MINT threadlift.

He is also very passionate about advancing the calibre of Cosmetic Medicine in Australia and is excited to have the opportunity to contribute and collaborate with colleagues to carry the College forward as a synonym of credence and integrity.

Dr. Edwina Morgan

Secretary

Dr. Edwina Morgan has shaped a multi-faceted career in medicine that is synonymous with accompanying her patients on some of the most transformative and intimate journeys in their lives.

Dr. Edwina began her career in obstetrics and gynaecology after obtaining a Bachelor of Science from the University of Queensland and also a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the prestigious Bond University. Whilst practicing obstetrics, she became increasingly fascinated with cosmetic medicine, and as her anatomical appreciation and skill set developed in this area, so too did she become more empowered on behalf of the patients to grow into this specialty.

Dr. Edwina has advanced to become a national Key Opinion Leader and Lead Trainer in advanced injectable techniques for Galderma and is also a full member of the Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia, which is granted to experienced practitioners to recognise an exceptional level of skill and expertise in the practice of cosmetic medicine. Dr. Edwina is a field expert for the leading Aesthetic Medicine Emergency Team (AMET), providing support to patients and practitioners alike in complicated procedures or emergencies.

“I’ve always enjoyed the balance between consultations and the surgical and procedural work with a client, and cosmetic medicine affords me the opportunity to incorporate advanced procedures such as non-surgical facelifts into my practice,” explains Dr. Edwina. 

“My patients want to work with me to create positive changes in their life – and this is just one of those steps for them – but I feel quite elated to be part of the process.”

Every day, Dr. Edwina thrives from working with a wonderfully diverse cross-section of people. From the most unsuspecting and unassuming through to those in touch with health and lifestyle maintenance, they all share something with her that is quite intimate. The warm and down-to-earth approach she cultivates in her professional relationships allows her to delve a little deeper to create the results her patients are seeking.

“The trust that my patients afford me is an absolute privilege. And a great majority of the time, I’m able to help my patients right there and then in their consultation. I know my patients leave their appointments feeling happier about themselves.”

Dr Edwina’s ultimate goal is to treat and provide for her patients’ cosmetic needs in their entirety. It’s an endeavour she commits a great deal of planning and passion towards, and ultimately enhances the comprehensive toolkit of solutions for her patients.

Dr. Carolyn Choy

Treasurer

Dr. Carolyn Choy is a highly skilled Cosmetic and Laser Doctor, founder of Ultimate Aesthetics. She has over 25 years of clinical experience in both general practice and the cosmetic and aesthetic field. Since graduating from medicine at the University of Western Australia, she has devoted her time to being a general practitioner and a cosmetic physician.

In her early times in the hospital, she realised how much she loved all aspects of medicine. But also working with her hands, and after leaving the hospital, working in the emergency departments and surgical departments, she pursued her first fellowship in general practice.

She attained her Fellowship in General Practice. She continued with further education and attended conferences. She felt called to move beyond general practice and realised that there was a real social need where men and women of the world were constantly being disempowered. By helping people improve their outside appearance by doing a few minor procedures, this greatly improves a person’s self-esteem.

Helping people see how beautiful they really are within. Feeling beautiful allows us more easily to connect to joy, life, and all its possibilities. With that goal in mind, she continued in her pursuit of excellence to be able to master advanced injection techniques and laser treatments. She understood how scarring could be so soul-destroying and has specialised in various techniques to help improve, specifically acne scarring and keloid scarring. In that time, she has continued to grow and learn and attained a second fellowship, this as a Fellow of the Cosmetic Physician College of Australasia.

She has enjoyed growing her team of doctors, nurses, and therapists, all with the same mindset of helping all of them age with grace, with minimal downtime, and with the greatest effect of natural-looking beauty, or as we say, “believable beauty”.

Dr. Keturah Hoffman

Education Officer

Dr. Keturah Hoffman has been active in medical politics since the 1990s. She’s been the Inaugural president of the Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia (CPSA) and an advisor to the Medical Board of Western Australia. Dr. Hoffman has also run cosmetic medical conferences and served on the board of the Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia (formerly CPSA) for over a decade.

She has nearly 30 years’ experience in cosmetic and vascular medicine and continues to maintain an active teaching and administrative role in the specialty.

Her experience in running Day Spas and formulating and manufacturing skincare products, as well as medical politics and health administration, brings a wide range of contacts and skills in business and people management. She continues to have a keen interest in improving the regulation and delivery of medical services in Australia.

Dr. Keturah Hoffman has held the position of Membership Liaison Officer, Education Officer, and Western Australian State Representative since 2018.

Dr. Scott Allison

PR Officer

Dr. Scott Allison is an experienced Cosmetic Physician and trainer in cosmetic injectables. He’s dedicated to delivering and developing innovative, non-invasive aesthetic procedures.

After graduating from Medical School at the University of Queensland in 2011, Dr. Allison undertook his residency at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he worked across a variety of areas including dermatology, plastic surgery, and infectious diseases. Following this, he completed a Master of Science in Aesthetic Medicine at Queen Mary University of London and a Master of Public Health at the University of Queensland. He is a Fellow of both the Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia and the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Dr. Allison is a trainer in cosmetic injectables with Allergan Aesthetics and is passionate about finding new and interesting ways of teaching safer injecting and facial anatomy to clinicians. He is also a Medical Officer Reservist in the Australian Army and a Senior Lecturer for the UQ School of Medicine.

Driven by a passion to empower others, Dr. Allison is committed to finding new and innovative non-invasive treatments to help clients achieve their aesthetic goals.

Dr. Sean Arendse

Member Representative

Dr. Sean Arendse graduated from King’s College London and has a background as an emergency consultant at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He founded Flawless Rejuvenation Skin Clinics in 2007 and enjoys working across both the fields of Emergency Medicine and Aesthetic Medicine.

In 2018, Dr. Arendse completed a postgraduate diploma in clinical dermatology at Queen Mary’s College London. He has a keen interest in the use of both energy-based devices and non-energy-based treatments, in achieving the best aesthetic result for his clients, and is a KOL for a number of injectable and device companies. He has a special interest in cosmetic medical emergencies, which he has published on, and is an advocate for safety in the aesthetic industry.

Dr. Sean Arendse held the position of CPCA Secretary for 2018-2022, and Victoria & Tasmania State Representative since 2018.

Dr. Mandana Arshi

Member Representative

Dr. Mandana Arshi is an experienced Medical Practitioner with a special interest in Aesthetic Medicine. With over two decades of experience in general practice. In 2011, she embarked on her career as an Aesthetic Physician in Brisbane. She also successfully completed her PhD degree at the University of Queensland.

Dr. Arshi is committed to utilising an evidence-based approach in her aesthetic treatments and consistently stays updated with the latest advancements in the field of aesthetic medicine. She ensures she attends the professional gathering in aesthetic medicine regularly and reads recent relevant journal articles. She is a Fellow of the Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia(CPCA), the Australasian College of Aesthetic Medicine (ACAM), and The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
